The magnificent bluebell woods at Blickling Hall, Norfolk

English bluebells (Hyacinthoides non-scripta) – £1.50 for 10, £7/50 or £13/100. One of the nation’s most beloved flowers, few things beat the sight of woodland carpeted with bluebells in May. Native or English bluebells are sweetly-scented, however Spanish bluebells (Hyacinthoides hispanica), introduced by the Victorians, have no scent. In the UK the British Bluebell is a protected species under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. It is a criminal offence to uproot the wild common bluebell from land on which it naturally grows.
